Whenever I log onto my account in XP, Microsoft XP
Standard for Students and teachers begins to run, and
ends with the prompt that the feature I am trying to use
is on a CDRom, and to insert it in the drive. When I hit
cancel I get an error message 1706 that Microsoft cannot
find the required files. This happens anytime I go into
Word, or even when I go into my email. How do I stop this
from launching? I've done full virus scan's and nothing
is coming up.

Hi Christine,

Is there a shortcut in your user folder?

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

There is no such thing as Microsoft XP Standard for Students and
teachers. However, if you are referring to an edition of OFFICE XP,
well then have you tried doing what it asks and putting in the CD? It
obviously wants some files off the CD to run. That's not uncommon.
If somebody other than you installed it using a different account, but
made it available for other accounts, then this box WILL pop up.
Supply the CD one time and it should stop pestering you.
