slow launch of software in xp

pc was working fine, now when i start win xp it takes a while, and the main
problem is that when i got the desktop and i click to launch software it
takes
long time when it start to launch, also ie7 takes a time to launch and go to
the
homepage. i already did defrag, virusscan , spywarescan also got win online
care
but no problems where found after a while verything is going faster.

Maybe the anti virus is set to scan before opening anything?

Do some clean boot troubleshooting to see if it's something running at
startup that is causing the delay.
