Startup Error: Missing ...\config\system

G

Guest

On startup I receive an error stating 'missing
\windows\system32\config\system'. I've read KB article 307545 and tried to
follow its instructions. When I boot from my XP CD and try to run the
recovery console, I get another error message saying 'bad_pool_caller ....
stop: 0x000000C2'.

Given these circumstances is there any way to repair this problem, or at the
very least is there any way to salvage what's on the hard drive?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hi,

Pull the drive, slave it in a working system. Recover your data that way.
The bad_pool_caller error is a driver problem, and if it is happening at
this level (of the booted CD), you have probably got either faulty or
misconfigured hardware.
