it again the next day it goes thru its bios settings etc then it goes back
to the winxp starting screen. then all of a sudden the computer restarts
again ands it goes thru its bois settings again and then it goes to the safe
mode request. on this i choose to start winxp normal and after all of that
things are back to normal. thing has just started to happen in the last few
days. i am new to this and i was wondering is there anyway to stop it going

Hi, Marty. Something is crashing, but because you don't get the famous
"Blue Screen of Death" with the Stop Error, we don't have any clues. So
the first thing to do is turn off the automatic restarting by going to
Control Panel's System applet, looking under Advanced>Startup and then
go to Recovery>Settings and under System Failure uncheck "Automatically
Restart". Now when the computer crashes, you should get the blue screen
with the Stop Error. Write down the error message and either look it up
using Google or post it back here.

Another thing to do is look in the Event Viewer applet for clues. You'll
find this in the Administrative Tools applet in Control Panel, so while
you're there fixing the automatic restart, look in Event Viewer. We're
trying to narrow down what process is failing.

And finally, here are some links that might be helpful (note that the
urls may wrap in my newsreader and you'll need to enter them into the
