Startup adjustments

Everytime I start Windows XP home the fax modem contoller is automatically
started. When I installed Winfax pro v10.02 it was configured not to
startup automatically because I infrequently use it. There is no switch I
can find in the Winfax pro setup options that can deselect the fax modem
auto startup. I have a lan network internet connection that Windows
automatically recognizes..

I looked for a Windows startup folder in an effort to remove the fax modem
from the auto startup program list, but I cannot find the folder.

Could someone tell me how to stop the fax modem controller from starting up
on it's own when Windows XP is started, or is this something best left
alone?

Hi homepc,

Go to Start > Run > msconfig

Go to the start up tab and disable the programs related to the fax,
they won't load on boot.

The next time you boot you will be presented with a msconfig popup,
check the option on the lower left so the popup doesn't show every
time you boot.
