Starting Problems

Hi all,

I have encountered a strange Problem. After upgrading
froma GwForce 2 to a GeForce 4 MX440 and installing of
the latest NVIDIA-Drivers my computer does not start
correctly anymore. At the time WinXP tries to initialize
the Graphics Adapter the logo remains screen and WinXP
dows not come up. Finally after about a minute all I cann
see is a black screen. After several reboots (sometimes
just one sometimes 10) the computer starts correctly and
works just fine. All I can see are entries in the System-
Information Screen as follows:

Conflict at

NVIDIA GeFormce4 MX 440 and SIS Intel Processorto AGP
Controller

at
Memoryadress 0xD0000000-0xDFFFFFFF
Memoryadress 0xE4000000-0xE5FFFFFF
Memoryadress 0xA0000-0xCBFFF

Within AGP or PCI this should not be critical....I think

Also I can see something within the Systemoverview saying
MODIFIED NVIDIA GeForce4 Method 'StartingAdress' changed
from 3623878656 to 3489660928.....?

Does soembody have an Idea what to do?

Thanks in advance

Regards
Volker

Volker, the first thing I would do is make sure your old Nvidia drivers
were uninstalled and deleted. That should have
been done from Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. Go to www.guru3d.com
and download one of their
Nvidia driver Removers. Also while there download a few different
drivers and try them out. Go back awhile to the
early 40.XX's. Go to SIS site and Motherboard Manufacturer's site and
see if there's any updated chipset drivers.
