When I turn on my PC, the C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\USER folder is
opened (displays on the monitor). What do I do to prevent this?

Likely there is a Startup call that is improperly formatted. Long file
names ( that can use spaces ) must be bound in Quotes so that XP
knows how to parse it. It takes a little detective work to locate the
call that is responsible. One of the best tools for that is utility from
SysInternals called AutoRuns. Using the Logon (TAB) check for a
item that is loaded from the Documents and Settings path.

Simply remove the tic/check from the option box to run the startup.
