start up screen and beep codes

i changed the cpu fan and now find myself unable to progress past the first screen that comes up.(the one detailing fan temps, memory usage, etc) and the keyboard appears inactive after the initial lights flash across it..... i was getting various beep codes as well, though that seems to have settled into the usual single beep upon start-up...still, i can't get past that first screen and appear to have a dead keyboard....... ps.... the cpu temp seems to be higher than normal, despite the new fan, too.... any suggestions, comments, or even last rites to be administered ?...... thanks in advance

Beep codes are somewhat motherboard-manufacturer (or BIOS-maker) - specific.
Best to check with manual or makers website for specific meaning.

I would go back inside and make sure everthing is properly connected and
seated.
