Start Up Programs

In older versions of Windows, you could easily see what
programs automatically ran at start up. What is the
equivalent in Windows XP? Programs take a long time to
start up when I turn on, or log onto, my p.c. after it
has been turned off or I have been logged off. Would
start up programs, and modifying any that I don't need at
start up, be where I should go to make my p.c. work
faster? If so, please tell me where to find those start
up programs.

Click Start, then Run, and type msconfig in the box and click OK. Then click
on the Startup tab, which will list startup programs. Uncheck any that you
don't want to startup at boot.

Go to Start, Run, type in "msconfig", this tells you
exactly what programs are starting and running when you
boot up. You can uncheck any that you do not want to
start or run in the background. It's a simple fix.
