Start up problem

I have a Compaq 6010 US / AMD Athlon / 1.4Ghz that all of a sudden had no
sound and then, it stopped booting up. The power lights come on but there is
no video feed to the monitor. I've checked the monitor and it seems fine.
Any suggestions?
 
i tried using this approach but since there is no video feed, nothing is
showing up on the screen. any other suggestions? probably video card and/or
motherboard needs to be replaced?
