i recently reinstalled XP Home and all was working fine for one day only.
now when booting i get

verify dmi pool data
disk read error occured
press ctrl alt del to restart

can any one offer any solutions please

That could be caused by numerous things.
1. Non-boot disk in Floppy or CD-ROM drive
2. Hard Drive is not present in boot order or is not in correct place (set
in the BIOS)
3. Defective/Bad Hard Drive
4. Corrupt Boot Sector or Files on the Hard Drive
5. Loose IDE/SATA cable

Why were you re-installing XP? Maybe that reason may have something to do
with the error you are getting now.
Are you running a single hard drive?

My immediate guess is a bad Hard Drive...but I could be wrong.
