Start Up error

A Computer running windows XP home has recently started asking for a driver
for ".Net Runtime Optimizer service v2.0.50727_x86" could you please tell me
where i may find this driver or informatin on it.
also when the macine starts up it comes up with an error
"The requested control is not valid for this service"
"ControlService"
Any information would be much appreciated.
Have tried google-ing the error but no help

Hi,

During the installation of Windows Update there was an update called
"Microsoft .NET 2.0 runtime. That must have caused this error. You can go to
this website to download the redistributable version again

If .NET 2.0 is already installed then you will get the dialog box where you
would like to repair or uninstall it. Try to repair it first and if the
problem doesnt go away then uninstall this version and install the version
that you have downloaded.
