Start -> Run

Hi,

I've just clean re-installed WinXP Pro and have an
annoyance that hopefully someone can help with.

When I use the start->run option I get a message stating
that a shortcut can't be placed here and would I like to
create a shortcut on the desktop. Prior to this clean
install I would get the usual dialog box. Any clues? I
can use the windows key with r to get the dialog box but
I'd prefer the start menu route!

(Have done a search on the internet and knowledge base
but couldn't find anything related to my problem)

No joy, still doesn't work - however thanks for pointing
