Start program grouping

In WinXP it was easy to group folders in the Start Menu>All Programs
(ex: I had a folder call CD_DVD that held Nero, Any DVD, Clone DVD, etc)
so that the list of program folders wasn't huge and programs were
grouped by category. Is there a way to do this in Vista (create a start
menu folder and group folders within it). I'm using Vista64. Tried
Google, but haven't found anything.

Thanks,

Fitz

One more question:
The start menu has two IE icons, one for 64 bit and one for 32 bit (X86
folder). If I'm using the 64 bit version of Vista, is there a reason I
would want to keep the 32 bit compatible IE shortcut?

Hello,

For grouping programs you can use a special tool called Tidy Start
Menu: http://www.tidystartmenu.com/index.shtml
It is very convenient from sorting programs by categories with just a
couple of clicks.
From what I know there is also a newer, modified version of this
program called Vista Start Menu: http://www.vistastartmenu.com/index.html
Anyways, you might try those and see if they work out for you.
Cheers!

You can do it the old fashioned way in

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

How do you navigate to C:\ProgramData? Can't find it...Only folders
listed are Program Files, Program Files (x86), Users, and Windows.

Thanks,

Thanks- found "ProgramData"- hidden, of course. Going to take awhile to
learn the new menu's. Thanks for the head's up on the Start orb right
click. Once you learn, Vista is fairly user friendly.

It's a hidden folder. Enable viewing hidden files and folder in Tools
| Folder Options, on the View tab.
