Hi, I have a virus or something that I am trying to remove. I've tried
adaware and spybot along with trend micro and my etust anti virus, to no
avail. I go to run and open start menu, by typing msconfig, and unchecking
the program. Then when I restart it is checked again. How do I get rid of
this program 'surfside kick 3', somehow it got into my system when I was
surfing. Everytime I try to delete this program I get the message that it's
being used by another program and it can't be deleted. Help me! Thanks.

Hello customer,

Based on your description, it seems that the system has been infected by
viruses. Although you have your client scan and try to remove the viruses,
however, sometimes it doesn't work if the operating system was severely
infected. The viruses might still retain on the system and cause many
unexpected issues.

On the virus issue, if you are in the US/Canada, I would like to suggest
that you call Microsoft PC Safety telephone number, 1-866-727-2338
(1-866-PCSAFETY). This service offers no-charge assistance for
virus-related issues or questions.

Also, you can check Microsoft Security and Privacy Web site at:

This Web site offers various articles, updates, tips and tricks, and
resources to protect both home and business computers from virus infection
or attacks.

I hope the above information helps. However, since it was previously
infected by virus, it is unknown what other issues we may encounter. For
the virus related issue, it is always recommended that we backup personal
data and format the hard drive, and then reinstall the whole operating
system.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Ada Pan

How do I get rid of this program 'surfside kick 3'

Just did a search & this fixed it. ( I copied & pasted for you )

Try this: (if you have Windows XP Home then you must first boot in safe
mode, if XP Pro then just in normal mode):

(a) Right click on the file (d3dlehlp.exe) in Windows Explorer or My
Computer, select Properties

(b) Click on the Security tab.

(c) Click on the Advanced button.

(d) Uncheck the box labeled "Inherit from Parent...", then click
"Remove"

(e) Close all windows.

(f) Reboot.

This will render the file d3dlehlp.exe ineffective and unable to run.
After that you can clean up remanents of the virus.

(If you have XP Pro but don't see the Security tab, open Windows
Explorer, Tools -> Folder Options -> View, and un-check the box lebeled
"Use Simple File Sharing...")

Well, after spending I kid you not, about 12 hours on the problem I
think the stuff finally came off, or at least as far as I could tell. I
finally arrived at a point where I would boot the computer and Zone
Alarm would not alert me about any strange processes trying to do this
and that.
Basically I think what got it was removing surf sidekick in add remove
programs, deleting the surfsidekick folder in programs, running Symantec
Antivirus once in normal and once in safe mode, Running MSFT Anti
Spyware 3 or 4 times in safe mode, running Zone Alarm spyware check 1
or 2 times, doing the trick you spoke of above with d3dlehlp, as well
as going through the reg several times both in normal and safe mode and
searching for apropos, surfside and aprps and deleting any entries of
it.

Restart the PC in "Safe Mode" then try to remove it. While in safe mode
run any cleaners that you want. Safe mode only loads minimal system
files and services that viruses may exploit. Chances are that the
program won't be loaded except in normal mode. Read the instructions
carefully before you run the cleaners.

Tools from Grisoft (AVG):

This VCleaner app scans and cleans a large number of viruses.
