Start Menu Unresponsive

Sorry if this is posted somewhere else, but my start menu button will
randomly become unresponsive. Also, when this happens, part of it gets cut
off so it's all in the taskbar (normally part of it sticks out). If I click
on the button, nothing happens, but it fixes if I restart the computer. I've
had vista for a couple months and this hasn't been a problem before. Please
help.

Have you tried a system restore to a point before the problem appeared?
