I'm a newbie in here. Been in lurk mode lately. I've found lots of
good programs in here. Thanks to you all.

My question is: Is there any good freeware programs to change/alter
the start menu on XP? I already have Tidat Start Menu. I'm looking for
a couple more if anyone has any to share.

How do you want to alter the Start Menu? I just want to have everything
alphabetized at all levels. The best solution for this seems to be a REG
file that deleted certain "menu order" registration keys.

Have a look at Kana Launcher: http://www.kana.webhop.net

BTW If you put shortcuts to the programs you want to launch in a folder or
folders on the desktop, you can gain quick access to these folders and their
contents, and anything else on your desktop by RightClicking a blank part of
the Taskbar > Toolbars > Desktop. This puts a double chevron icon on your
taskbar which gives access to the desktop and its contents. I did this and
threw away several launch programs.

I'd like to have my start menu (Windows XP) to be as it is but to be
able to have menu's within the menu like my 'all programs' menu.

Hope i made sense. Been a long day.

Hey there,

I'd like to have my start menu (Windows XP) to be as it is but to be
able to have menu's within the menu like my 'all programs' menu.

Right-click the taskbar.
Select "Properties".
Left-click the "Start Menu" tab.
Left-click the "Customize..." button.
Left-click the "Advanced" button.
Add a folder or folders wherever you like. You're in Microsoft
Explorer.

I hope this helps. :)

You can also drag your toolbar to the left or right sides of the
screen and expand its size. This allows you to see all those icons
with no need for the chevrons.

I use folders on the desktop, but they could be anywhere, and right
click on the Taskbar>Toolbars>New Toolbar, browse to the folder in
question and click OK.

Voila, one new toolbox that hides with the Taskbar and single click
access to programs. By adding new icons/shortcuts into your folder
they automatically become part of your toolbox.

You can float these toolbars over the desktop if you desire but they
then do not disappear with the Taskbar
