Start Menu Lock Button

Does anyone know if a way to change the function of the lock button on the
start menu to log out? I've already changed the sleep to shutdown, since the
Vista Home Premium install fails to wake from sleep. This is a machine
shared by 4 people who each have their own accounts, and who have yet to
learn that they should log out rather than lock the system when they are
done using it.

Hi Andrew,

Unfortunately, there is no way to change the function of the lock button on
the default Start Menu, however if you right click on the start orb and
select 'Properties' you will be able to effect a workaround, if you don't
mind using the alternative start menu. In the 'Taskbar and Start Menu
Properties' dialogue that appears, select the 'Start Menu' tab. The default
option is 'Start menu', but you need to select 'Classic Start menu'. Next,
click 'Customize...'. This brings up another dialogue entitled 'Customize
Classic Start Menu'. Under 'Advanced Start menu options:', enable 'Display
log off' and then click 'OK' twice to close all dialogue boxes. When you
click on the start orb, 'Log Off <Name>' is one of the options displayed.
Note that you can revert back to the default menu if you so wish, just follow
the above instructions but select 'Start menu' instead of 'Classic Start
menu'. Also note that you will need to repeat the above for each user on your
PC.
