Start in Outlook Today

Howdy folks
I am using WinXP Pro with Office XP Pro and Front Page 2002. Everything is fully patched and current. My issue is that when Opening Outlook it WILL NOT open in the Outlook Today page no matter how I try. It always starts in the Inbox. I have one other user on the computer and it has the same issue in that profile. I can set it in the Options page of Outlook Today or in the options dialog box via tools and it just wont do it. When I set it to eith way and then return to the dialog box it says "start in Outlook Today" but it doesn't

Any suggestions?

Thank
John

you can use a command line switch on the shortcut you use to open outlook.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Outlook.exe" /select
outlook:today

Thank You...

That did the trick, although I'd prefer to know the underlying cause of the behavior.

Thanks again

I had this same problem and found your post. The shortcut I was using to
launch Outlook was apparently corrupt. I did a repair install of Office and
it placed a new shortcut in my QuickLaunch folder. When launched from the
new icon, Outlook would once again open in Outlook Today. The old icon I was
using still would not work correctly. There was no added extension to the
command to select the Inbox so I can't figure out what is wrong with it. I
had dragged it there from the desktop after I installed Office. Try creating
a new short cut to Outlook. You probably don't need to do the repair
install. The Email button in my start menu that is associated with Outlook
was also corrupt so I removed it. I right clicked on the new functional icon
and selected Pin to Start Menu. You can then rename it if you want. I hope
this helps.
