I have a problem with my start button. It fills the whole lower portion of my
screen. I cannot see any programs that have been started, or the Quick launch
or the clock/system tray. This problem surfaced when we tried to join my
computer to the Domain. I did not have much room on my hard drive and it
locked up. When we rebooted and logged in, there was the Start button. It
happened with any Domain user signon. My original LOCAL signon is still OK.
I have to change to the Windows 98 appearance to navigate my Domain profile.
I prefer the XP appearance...is there any way to fix this?

You should be able to grab the upper edge of the taskbar (which
contains the start button) and drag it to whatever size you want. If
you can't, try right-clicking an empty space in the taskbar. Check the
"Lock the taskbar" item on the resulting menu. If there's a check
beside it, clilck it. That will turn the option off and you should
then be able to drag the bar. Once you have it to the size and
position you want, turn the "Lock" option back on.

Tried that...The whole bottom of the screen IS the start button (without the
word START). It will either pop up the Start options (left click) or give me
the option to open or explorer (right click). The only dragging motion
available make it Thicker. It will not move to any where else on the screen.
I also tried playing with the themes and appearance. At one point I have the
XP theme sort of working (the Green start button was only green, no text or
windows graphic) BUT when I restart, the problem comes back...the green is
clear across the bottom my screen and about 7 rows thick. Thank you for
responding. I sure wish the 'fix' could have been so simple... Any other
ideas..
