Hi ,I am using windows 2000 professional.I have a problem with the START button .
When i click on the START button, nothing is happening after some time its opening the folders(Programs, documents etc.)
When i move the cursor to PROGRMS or DOCUMENTS or to any folders it again hangs and its taking some time to open the sub folders. This problems started recently. It was fine before.
This is kinda killing me.I haven't downloaded any thing or havent applied any patches recently.
Can you guys please help me out to resolve this wierd problem.
Thanks in advance.

Hello

you will have to be Patient to do this.

boot your system in safe mode, you may have a large number
of temporary files, you need to delete them

run the search command and search for *.tmp , and delete
all of them also remove them from the Recycle bin

seach for ~*.* and delete all

check to make sure you have enough disk space you should
have at least 500 meg available space on HD.
make sure you have enough memory with win2000 you should
have at least 256 mg ram.

you may a virus, or a very ristricting firewall , anti
virus.
try removeing the anti virus.

you may have aprogram running in the background

you may have enabled the compress drive option in the
hard drive properties, if you did you need to deselect it
and wait for it to finish 2 or 3 or more Hours
