Start Bar problem

Hello all,
Having a slight problem with the taskbar. It seems my Quick Launch
toolbar is taking up the whole taskbar area so that none of the open
window buttons show. If I attempt to close quick launch however, the
taskbar disappears and no amount of dragging, resizing, or moving it
around helps. I've checked the options and have taskbar set to
Unlocked, No autohide, and only quick launch toolbar visible. This
happens in both XP style adn also in classic style.

Hope someone can help, and thanks in advance.

How many shortcuts do you have there? Delete the ones you don't regularly
use - they all appear in the Start menu anyway.
Many new installs decide to put an spare one there just for "fun"
I only stick to the basics, in my case, Google, Windows Explorer, Desktop,
Mailwasher & NGs.

Before deleting shortcuts in the quick launch tool bar, try expanding the
tool bar up so it's at least two lines high. If you can see running
programs now (of course you need to have programs running), try closing the
quick launch tool bar while your tool bar is expanded like this. I have
lots of shortcuts in my tool bar. So I use autohide and have a two-row
toolbar. My quick launch is on top and my active programs are below. If
you get the programs to show in the toolbar and they are to the side of the
quick launch shortcuts, you can drag the programs bar below the quick launch
bar. This way shortcuts are lined up across the top of your toolbar and all
the programs are stretched across the bottom of the toolbar. Autohide gives
you more screen space when using a larger toolbar. Good luck,

Complete waste of screen space.
What you CAN do is unlock the Taskbar, drag the vertical divider at the
right of Launchpad to the left, re-lock the Toolbar, then drag & drop the
most used ones to the visible portion.

I've tried the drag and drop thing with the taskbar at 2 and 3 spaces
high and it still disappears once I close quick launch. Also, only
icons in quick launch are the defaults plus MusicMatch Jukebox and one
to my webpage folder since I am working on setting it up as a server.
The computer had been off for the last six months since my
powersupply decided to quit and, wanting only the best from Antec, I
had to save for a little while to get the True 550. The problem seems
to have appeared once I got the system back up, it's really weird.
