"start > all programs" menu slow

I've just reinstalled WinXP Pro SP2 on a friends computer. Everything is
fine except when opening the program trees in Start > All Programs menu it
seems to be rather slow. Nothing else has been installed on the computer.
It has sufficient memory and CPU speed. In anycase I've had experience on
slower machines and there has been no problem. I've seen this problem once
before but found no answer. I think it's a simple case of a registry edit?

Any feedback would be appreciated.
