Standby Question

My system is dual 2 core 2.13GHz running XP SP2 and my power setting is
"Always On". When I click "Standby" after pressing Alt+F4, my system goes
into the standby mode (e.g., the power led goes off, the monitor goes into
the power saving mode, etc). Do my HDs stop, too? I'm curious about this
because the recovery from Standby is quick. Granted, the last time I used
Standby, I had a Pentium system (almost 8 years ago), and the recovery time
was rather long.

Afaik, no.

You can use Hibernation because it is not as fast as standby(depends on hard
disk & ram) but it is much better. You can even pull the power plug after
hibernating.
