Standby option on the "Turn off the Computer" menu

I'm running windows XP and until today, I had the ability
to select "Standby" from the "TUrn off the Computer"
message box (after selecting Start, Turn off the
Computer). Now it appears greyed out. Does anyone know
how to restore it as I often use this option?
