Standby option grayed out.

Hi,

The Standby option in my Windows XP system has got disabled after I did a
repair-install. Before the repair-install, I could get into both standby and
hibernate mode.

The Hibernate tab is also missing from the Power Options applet in the
Control Panel.

Here is a Dell forum discussion on loss of standby. It appears that
the initial poster lost the function after installing some patches and
upgrades to his new computer. Success was obtained by reinstalling
video drivers.
