Standby & Hybernation do not work

When I try to go into Standby, I get the following
message: "The device driver for the 'Standard 101/102-
Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard' device is
preventing the machine from entering standby. Please
close all applications and try again. If the problem
persists, you may need to update this driver."

No matter what I try, I still get this message; and I
haven't been able to find an update for the mentioned
driver. Is it important that my laptop doesn't go into
standy or hybernate? Can I live without it?

This was happening to me and it turned out being Adobe reader 4.0,removed it
and upgraded to 6.0. Hope that helps

I found out it was Adobe Type Manager 4.0. I uninstalled
it and the standby works manually; but it doesn't do it
by the system according to my Power Option setting. It
will work on start/shutdown/ standby and be keyboard
shortcut and by closing my lid on my laptop; but, as I
said, not by the Power Option Setting ( Turn Off Monitor
5 min. Power down Hard Drive 10 min. Standby 15 min.).

Well, i had the same problem. solution I used was 1. to
uninstall adobe acrobat (why? i dont know, was suggested
to me by someone) and uninstalled the keyboard in device
manager. Restared system, it auto detects the keyboard,
installs and prompts me to restart. System came back on,
and was entering standby mode, hibernation etc OK. Hope
that works for you!
