Standby has stopped functioning

My Dell with Windows XP had standby mode functioning until I installed
Norton System Security 2007. Now when I press standby the computer
shuts down. Norton had me disable their modules, but the promlem
remains. Any thoughts on what is going on would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
reset your options in
the power management console
in control panel....

or

you likely have a restore point
that was automatically created by
your windows before installing Norton.

this might be helpful to you if you
choose to revert back to a functional
date without Norton.
