Standby Fails

Recently, whenever I put my WinXP Home machine into standby, it always
awakens a few moments after entering standby. Something must have changed.
Any suggestions?

do you see any change in the advanced power options.

1) start >> control panel
2) if you have category view look for performance and maintainence .
If you have classic view, look for Power options.
3) Double click on it and make sure that System Standby has anything
other than Never.

See whether that helps.

your optical mouse may be taking it out of standby. you can reslove
this by going to device manager and uncheking the box that says allow
this device to take the computer out of standby. (or something like
that)
