System won't stay in standby

My WinXP Home power settings permit standby after 20 minutes. But when I
wish to shut down overnight, I click Start | Turn Off Computer | Standby.
The system tells me it's preparing to standby. The hard drive stops and the
monitor shuts down. Then, about ten seconds later, it awakens from standby.

Why?

.
Open your control panel, click "power options", and
check what your PC has set for stand-by. I suggest just
select turn off for when you are done. And also there is
the hibernation mode option too.
