Hi newsgroup,

Does anyone know if it's possible to permanently set the
displayed format of the standard file dialog to Details view?

It always starts with List view and it's quite boring to change it
to Details view every time the dialog appears.

Thank you for your help.

Regards
Frank

See my answer in microsoft.public.de.german.win2000.applications

Explorer|View|Details Then Explorer|Tools|Folder Options|View, then "Like
Current Folder".

Thanks, Dave, but that doesn't work, at least not on my Win 2000.
It works for every other Explorer window, but not for the standard file dialog.
It keeps appearing with List view format.

OK misread the post. Try adding yourself to local admin group, set to
details, test and then remove yourself from the local admin group.

Hi Dave,

I am already a member of the local admin group. Looks as if
the permanent setting to Details view doesn't work with the
standard file dialog, because the MS programmer had had to
call the COMDLG with some parameters and thus there's
no link to the setting in Explorer windows.

Frank
