my computer wonk go into standby the button under turn of computer is gry and
wont ever let me click it what do i do

Howdy Billy Bob,

Two things to try:

Right-click My Computer => Properties => Hardware tab

Go into the Device Manager and uninstall (right-click) the Floppy Disk
Controller. Reboot. Your Floppy Disk Controller will be reinstalled.
Check if you have

the Standby option back.

In Device Manager, under Computer, check that you have ACPI enabled;
right-click and click on Properties and check that it is working
properly.

I cant find the Floppy Disk Controller and ACPI is working properly can you
help me more or can any one i might be wiling to do remote assistance

Hello again, Bob,

If you don't have a floppy drive, the Controller won't show.

Here's another possible fix:

1) Click the "Start" button in the bottom left hand corner of the
screen.

2) Select the |"Control Panel"

3) Click the "System" icon within the "Performance and Maintenenace "
section

4) Select the "Advanced" tab across the top

5) Click "Settings" within the "Performance" section

6) Select the "Advanced" tab

7) Near the bottom there is a "Change" button, click this

8) Within the "Virtual memory" section there is a button "System
managed size"

9) Click this and then the "OK" -- 3 times, to exit the settings.

Another fix I have noted is this:

Go into your BIOS and click the "Load Optimal Settings" option. Access
key to the BIOS will depend on your particular computer - hit the key
repeatedly as soon as the manufacturer's splash screen shows.

Hello Bob,

Sent you an e-mail about the BIOS and also about updating your video
card drivers.
