Stale Computer Accounts

H

Henry

Anyone know of a way to audit AD for stale computer
accounts? I have a large environment but dont have an
accurate computer inventory. I would like to delete any
computer accounts that are no longer being used.

Thanks,

Henry,

This is posted a couple of times a week. Do a search for a post from Craig
Landis on 03/09/04 with the subject of "Dead" computer accounts where he
includes a script. Additionally, you might want to look at
http://www/joeware.net and look at the free C++ tools. There is a really
awesome tool there ( well, they are all pretty awesome ) called oldcmp that
will do a lot of things for you.

I just downloaded it and took a look. I like the GUI and it did seem to be
accurate. It looks to be a nice tool. Since I was using the evaluation
version I did not have full functionality ( expected ) but it did look to do
things correctly.

I guess the question would be do I want to use the command line and have
free tool ( joeware.net ) or use that nice GUI and pay $50.00 ( AD
Janitor ).

That is a decision that everyone will have to make for himself / herself.

Take a look at joeware.net, he has a tool that I personally like.
