Stability Issues when trying to save a movie

I've created a movie with about 75 video clips (all with sound), some still
images, 10 mp3 clips for music, and various title overlays.

Anyway, as I was creating the movie, I would periodically test the save
operation to create the movie so I could watch it and see how it played.
This worked fine.

I finally added the last section of clips to the movie and I can no longer
save it successfully. One of the following things happens:

- it hangs for awhile, then gives me an error saying it can't continue due
to memory or disk space issues
- i get a whole slew of codec memory allocation error dialog boxes
- WMM itself crashes
- it'll have a really high estimate which eventually drops down, it runs for
awhile and I get a blank movie or a small movie file (3MB)

Note that I'm selecting "Other settings: High quality video (large)". Its
as though I've exceeded some limit or something. I tried making a copy of
the project file and deleting a number of items. This seemed to fix it, but
I don't want to cut out content.

My system specs are below. Any ideas?

Pentium D 2.8GHz
2GB RAM
120GB free HD space
approx. 20GB of source material used to create the movie
final movie when creation was successfull was up to about 80MB
target movie running time approx 11 mins

fyi, I was able to resolve the below issue by combining multiple shorter
clips into single clips (i.e., create a new project, drop in the clips of
interest, save as a movie, then replace the clips in the original project
with the combined clip). I did this in several places and then re-tried
creating the movie and it worked fine.

Looks as though there's some limit wrt the # of items in your movie and you
get into trouble if you exceed that.

PapaJohn, on your web page by MEMORY do you mean RAM or something else? I
have 512MB of Ram installed and have another sitting here waiting to be
installed. I have had problems thismorning saving my movies. Out of 4 movies
I have managed to save one. Thanks, Oceana

RAM is part of it.... but it also includes 'virtual memory'...... when RAM
runs out the computer uses a part of the hard drive for the overflow......
the size of the virtual part can be adjusted, so increasing it is a good
step before buying more.... but more is always good
