cannot save to computer

I've been using WMM for a long time -- no problems. Saved long movies with
lots of clips and mp3 audio etc. Today, trying to SAVE small, no clips,
simple files TO MY COMPUTER and it keeps coming up that it is "saving to a
recordable CD" with about 4000000000+ miuntes left. I cancel. I have tried
moving the file to other locations to work from -- Shared Video -- tried
saving to Shared Video.

I updated from Windows. Computer recently froze while running defrag.
Wondering if that created problems? I successfully ran SpyBot -- no problems.

The information on the recommended site is too advanced for me -- yes it
makes my head spin to look at codecs..

Can I uninstall XP and re-install and get a working version of WMM?

I am using Windows Movie Maker 7 (not WMM2) and IE 8 (as of yesterday)

I have made about 100 movies using WMM and then some things "happened" at
the same -- crash while de-fragging, auto-install of IE 7 -- now WMM 7 won't
save a one minute clip, won't save it to a thumb drive, desktop or my
computer.

Yes, your case might run beyond Movie Maker and head-spinning codec issues.
