I have Zone Alarm, Norton etc

You cannot connect to [web site name] because SSL is disabled.

What is SSL and how do I change this. it is preventing me from doing
basic things on line.

TIA

Phil

SSL stands for "Secure Sockets Layer". This is what allows secure
transmissions over HTTPS (web pages.) Having it disabled means you can't go
to bank websites, many store websites, etc.

I've been running ZoneAlarm for quite some time and have never encountered a
scenario where it disabled SSL, so my guess is that it is disabled either in
your internet settings or via Norton.

Under "Internet Options", go to the "Advanced" tab and, near the bottom,
ensure that both SSL2 and SSL3 are enabled.

Secure Socket layer. Use for accessing secured sites (Https:// ones).

In Control Panel, Internet Options - Advanced, go down to Security
section and make sure that Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0 are checked,
Apply
