SSL Problems

Arpan

I have been using Internet Explorer 6.0 for quite sometime. I have an e-mail
account in hotmail. Accessing this account has never been a problem to me
except for the last 3 days. As soon as one gets logged in to hotmail.com,
the user is taken to a page which makes use of SSL (i.e. Security Socket
Layer). This can be found out by the presence of "https:\\" instead of the
more conventional "http:\\". Of late, IE6 just refuses to visit such
SSL-supported pages & after a long time, gives a message saying "The page
cannot be displayed" (along with the "Refresh" link etc.). Even the cookie
created by hotmail.com when 1 log in using my UserID & password does not get
created. The same problem occurs if I log into brinkster.com with my UserID
& password & then click the "Account Manager" link in the next page. This
"Account Manager" link also links to a site that uses SSL as one can easily
see "https:\\" at the very beginning of the URL. How do I overcome this
problem? Please note that I haven't tampered with any settings concerned
with the security issues in IE6. I even tried accessing my hotmail account
from my friend's machine using IE6 but the outcome was the same i.e. I am
not being allowed to access my hotmail account. Please note one very
important thing - if I am using Opera 6 as the browser to access my hotmail
account, I am not facing any similar problems. In fact, I can very well
access my hotmail account using Opera6 as the browser (I haven't tried the
same with any other browsers). This ultimately made me conclude that there
has been some problem with IE6. Could somebody please give me a concrete
solution for this problem?

Thanks,

Arpan
