ssh sessions

Hi,

I am having a problem with connecting through ssh to a remote server,
every time I try to connect I get a connection timeout.

The program I use for connecting to the server is putty and am going
over port 22.

If I execute the request from a different PC in the same network it
works, this in my opinion rules out a network issue.

Same goes for my software firewall, I have shut it down, but the result
remains the same... connection timed out.

There is a difference though, the one that works has Microsoft XP
Professional as operating system, while the system that doesn't work
uses Microsoft XP Home.

Am hoping that there is a setting within Microsoft XP Home edition that
I have to change to use ssh over the public internet, to connect to a
remote system.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
twomt.

You should probably add a rule to you firewall software to allow PuTTY thru.
I have noticed that some firewalls still block access even though they are
"turned" off.
