Key location with Windows XP

I am trying to set up an SSH connection with a remote Linux base computer. I
have created a key using puttygen and set up the connection using putty. It
worked the first time around. However, I had to reformat the area that I am
using on the Linux computer, and now when trying to set up a new public and
private key, I am getting an error. I was told that I had to delete the old
key on the host file on windows and then redo the puttygen and putty.
However, I can't find where the key host file is located on Windows XP.
Where should I look?

Hi JS,

I looked in this folder, it contains the following files, hosts, hosts.msn,
lmhosts, networks, protocol, services, all date modified earlier or equal to
6/22/05. And those two modified today, tmvsthfss, and tmvsthfud, I have not
used putty today, and the two files are bin files, so I don't think these are
the files that I need to look at. I saved the host file about three weeks
ago, but there is nothing else there saved in 2008. What file should I look
into?

Regards,

Cathalina

I'm not familiar with Putty but I do use UNIX from time to time.
Look for a folder/directory named 'bin', this folder could be in the Windows
directory
or it could be located in the directory where you installed Putty.
You may find what you looking for once you locate the 'bin' directory.
