I'm sry i didn't make that too clear

What i meant was to have it so instead of going through the start menu
to the run box, i want to be able to have a box on my task bar so i
just type into that and press go.

No problem. I don't know of a way to get the Run Box onto the desktop.
There's probably some third party tool that can do that but to use what's
in Windows...

To bring up the Run box quickly: press Windows Key + R

Or try adding the "address" toolbar to your taskbar: Right click> Toolbars>
Address. I use the run box as an address bar. Have never tried the other
way around. Just tried now and typing "regedit" into the address bar did
open the program, so maybe that will work for you?

I'm not sure where the rest of this post originated but from what I
understood all you have to do is add an address bar to the taskbar. Right
click the task bar/Toolbars/select Address
