A CPU, chipset, PSU, or video fan. Unplug the PC. Open the left side, as
viewed from the front. Listen as best you can and *keep your fingers away
from the rotating blades*. To slow a fan down, use the rubber eraser on the
end of a pencil to touch the *hub* (center) of the fan, not the blades.

ok thanks but sound is coming from the speakers and
the computer locks up.......and i did notice the cpu fan
is making a little bit of noise.....

sound is coming threw speakers but the cpu fan is making
some noise....also.....

Turn the speakers off so you can hear the computer. You can
look in system sounds to see if some squeal is programmed as
a sound, likely it is a sound not programmed, but some
failing related to the crash.

lock up and high pitch squeal happen at the same time does
no good to turn off sound system u wont here it then ..
but the computer still freezes up the same its just get
this squeal and freeze up at the same time.....1.5 sec
long and every so often ......

My point was that there might be some lower level sound that
is masked by the speakers.

Mute your mic and see if the sound goes away.

At Control Panel - Sounds and Audio - Sounds, review the Sounds to see
if one of the ones selected has got set to give that squeal. If so,
change to a different sound, and note what the circumstances of its use
were

Could be a corrupted sound file tied to an event. I'd look at the sound
settings and check each event that has a sound associated with it and
play each sound, you may find one that does the squeal. If you do find
it then find the .wav file for the sound and replace it with a good copy
from another system. Or you could simply disassociate the event with the
sound.

Do you mean you updated or change sound card drivers or that you've just
got multiple copies of sound card driver files on the disk? Mutilple
driver files on the disk is not a problem but if you've changed the
installed set of drivers then that could be the problem.
Let me ask you this:
Does the sound card work correctly at all?
