Yep...as Jenny said....download 'Spybot - Seek And Destroy' from
http://security.kolla.de/
The news section is useful to read, but there is a FAQ & forum which
are helpful (I would imagine...havent had time to go there yet
) so
after downloading the program, before doing anything else, click the
'Search For Updates' button (if not shown, click the 'Update' button on
the left, then choose that button) then tick all the updates that apply once
they have appeared - of course, you need to be online to check for and
download & install the updates - and click 'Download Updates'.
The program may restart after this and once it has updated itself, click the
'Check for problems' ('Search and Destroy' button 1st if not shown) and
fix all the items you think shouldnt be there - warning tho...some programs
may require 1 or 2 of these programs but remember that you can always
install that program again
Also, as Jenny mentioned, click the 'Immunize' button and 'Immunize' all the
bad products, plus choose the 2nd option on the drop down list .i.e
"Display dialog when blocking" instead of "Block all bad pages silently", so
that you see when a website contains a bad product...oh yes, after choosing
that, click the "Install" button to enable it permenantly - no, you dont nee
Spybot running for it to block bad products.
Wow....that was in-depth (and most probably confusing) so now I leave.
Final note: update & run the Search & Destroy program regularly to be safe
that you dont have any spyware/threatware/adware/etc. installed
