Spyware Scan Schedule

Hello, all,

I've tried to go through the 18,000+ posts in the NG to try to find an
answer for my problem...

I was running a deep scan on a daily basis at 2:00 a.m. Other than it
taking over 2 hours to complete, there really wasn't a problem.

I decided that might be a bit of overkill, so I changed it to once a week,
on Sundays, at 6:00 a.m. It hasn't run a scan since.

Now, if the "set it 2 days ahead" theory was working, it would be running on
Fridays, but it hasn't run a scan at all since 5/14.

The computer is a home, stand alone computer, I've changed nothing in the
way I leave the machine running, so I don't think it's the issue of having
an administrator logged on -- it's just me using the machine & it worked
before. The only change was to a weekly scan from daily.

Any ideas on how to get the thing to run an automatic weekly scan?

Thanks,
-Sharon

2 hours seem like a long time

size of hard disk?

37.2GB. I think perhaps it took so long because my daily anti-virus scan
would kick in before the spyware scan was done. That's one of the reasons I
wanted to change the time, so the two scans wouldn't conflict.

Hmm - seems like if it was working at 2:00 am, it should still work at 6:00
am. One possibility would be that the recording process isn't working, but
then there should still be scan records to be seen somewhere.

To tell you the truth, I've never tried an other-than-daily scan.

I'll see if I can test this on my home machine. Let's see--I want it to
run Wednesday at 10:00 am, so I need to set it to 112:00 am on Friday,
right?

I'll give it a try and see what happens. I do know that when I was trying
to get it to scan at a specifc time--usually about 5 minutes ahead of when I
was testing--to work on a specific issue posted in these groups, it was hit
or miss--occasionally worked, mostly didn't.

OK - I've reset for testing.

The UI is confusing--seemingly redundant.

I left the top box set at Daily, 10:00 am, and then unchecked "every day"
and left just Friday checked.

The UI on the previous page is now confusing--it reads "daily at 112:00 am"
when, in fact, it is set to just Friday. Not sure what will actually
happen--every day, a new adventure.

In fact, my test worked just fine. In my case, the first control was set
to daily, but every day was unsent, and just Friday set. It scanned as
scheduled, on Wednesday. I've also had a conversation in another group with
another user who found the two day ahead behavior perplexing--in his case he
was set to scan weekly, and the scan happened as I would have predicted.

So--weekly scans should be possible. Not sure what's going on in your
installation.

I finally gave up the other day & ran a "manual" scan. This morning
(Friday) my scheduled Sunday 6:00 a.m. scheduled scan began. Go figure, it
hadn't done one in about 3 weeks. So now I'll change it to Tuesday so it
will run on Sunday!

Thanks,

By the time we figure out how to run this one properly, they'll come up with
a new beta with different bugs!

Checkmark each individual day to run at 3PM and that way it will run no
matter what day you have checked.
