Spyware Can't Detect Internet Connection

We recently had Direcway satellite service installed (It's
the only thing we can get where we live). The MS
Antispyware program works just fine except that I can't get
updates because it says it can find an internet connnection.

All our other programs that need to connect to the internet
to download files work just fine. Anybody have any ideas as
to why this spyware program can't detect a connection?

Please let me know if you need more information about my system

The fix is extremely simple with XP SP2. If you aren't at
that level, you might consider using a third-party utility-
-see the second link below:

Ensure that Internet Explorer or Outlook Express is
working online, open IE,from the File menu, ensure
that "Work Offline is not checked.

I don't understand this error message myself. I believe that direcway runs
a proxy of some sort, and I hear, via plun, that Microsoft Antispyware may
require more than just simple HTTP port 80 connectivity to get updates.

Did you add other software, perhaps a third party software firewall, at the
same time as the DirecWay service?
