Spyware blocker programs: How many?

I am using Earthlink as my internet provider and in their
total access package is a spyware blocker powered by
Webroot. Is is possible to have more than one
spyware/adware programs on the computer at the same time?
I have been having a few problems withe the computer and
I am not sure if it is due to spyware or not. The one I
have when scanned said no spyware found. Also when I
close my computer I get the box that comes up to end now
or cancel saying there is a problem with program ccApp?
Can someone tell me what this program is?

I currently have 4 spyware/adware programs on my pc (SpyBot 1.3, Ad-Aware
6.0, SpywareBlaster, Pest Patrol)

ccApp is part of Norton Antivirus. Other than that program holding you up,
what other problems are you experiencing?

The answer is yes, don't forget to update your definitions
for the webroot spyware prior to running it.

You should use more than one scanner.A multi-layered approach is best.
I have links to some on and off-line scanners on my site.
Are you using Norton? "ccApp.exe is the common hosting application that
is used by both NAV and NIS"
Here is link to Norton:

Thanks for getting back to me. How do I update my
definitions for the webroot spyware blocker before adding
another program. I haven't added another program yet. The
spyware blocker I have is through Earthlink and part of
their program. When I click the spyware blocker button I
come up with these options: Info/Start Scan/Disable
Spyware Blocker Alerts/Restore Spyware/Help/About There
is no place for me to update the definitions. Do I need
to contact Earthlink or is there a site I can find that
will do this for me. Once this is done, then I can find
another spyware/adware blocker program and add it. Any
suggestions? It must be a free program/download

Thanks for getting back to me. Any suggestions on a good
spyware/adware program to add? It must be a free
download. I did have Spybot Seach and Destroy on my
computer but when I got the Earthlink one I took the S&D
one off. Other problems I am having are:
1. I had IE6.0 on my computer and I wanted to know if
they had updated so I reinstalled it again. I did not
take the one I had off, just overode it. Now I seem to
have this version 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633IC I
thought I had sp1 on my computer but what this version
tells me is that I have sp2. I don't know if by me doing
what I did messed up my computer or not. I would like to
know if what I did can be undone.
2. I seem to have lost my sound in certain programs like
Yahoo Games for instance.
3. Today when I turned on my computer there was a script
error with a whole lot of numbers and words that I didn't
have time to write down. I shut the computer off and
rebooted and when it came back on the error message was
gone. I don't know what script error means and what
affect that could have on my computer.

The free programs I have and use daily are Spybot Search and Destroy, Adaware,SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard. All work well together and all will work with your present software. Do a search from you location for the programs and get the download nearest you. }:~)

run these programs to check for spyware/malware. After installing
update them, then boot into safe mode and run them. You should run
update and run them weekly.

Make sure you have a firewall active at all times. If nothing else use
the one built into XP, but there are a variety of free third party ones
that do a better job from Sygate, Zone Alarm or Kerio.
