spyware blaster problem

hi all
i am having a problem with Spyware Blaster the freeware program that
runs in the background

yesterday i checked for updates and it said that there was a program
update,so i went to the site and followed the instructions about
downloading and installation
you are supposed to disable all the program and then delete before
installing.
i went to delete and the program does not appear in Add/Remove programs
in the control panel

so i checked the HD and there was the program that would open and run

i checked with another add/remove program that i have and it is not
there either
but i can open the program and run it

what do i do now? should i just download and install over the existing
program?

any advice you give is appreciated

I just installed over the other version; had no problems. Once you install
it it goes into the program section where you add blocking to IE, Mozilla
and Firebird (I think). IE was set up but you had to do Mozilla and
Firebird.

Yes, I just installed while everything is running and it worked fine. Maybe
just lucky I guess.

Andy.

you were only suppose to go in to spywareblaster itself, disable all
protections, and then install it. You will then have to go back in once
it is installed and re-enable the protections. Don't forget to close
your browser after you do this then re-open it, this ensures that the
browser gets the message from spywareblaster that it has protections.

Use the programs own uninstall routine:

In My Computer go to
Program Files
Spyware Blaster
Click on unins000.exe

Spyware Blaster does not run in the background. SpywareGuard does.

active!" -from the help file

bob, the only file that looks like that is a DAT file that is unis000
there is no .exe programs in the file
so what i did was disable the program
download t he newer version
and is seems to be OK and is back in my add/remove program area

i read on their forums that a number of folks were having the
same/similar problem

Eric has got it right , disable , not uninstall .

here are the instructions on the javacool website:

It is recommended that you uninstall your current version of
SpywareBlaster before installing the new version. To do this:

1.) Open SpywareBlaster and press the "Disable All Protection" link
under "Quick Tasks".
2.) Close SpywareBlaster.
3.) Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the entry named
"SpywareBlaster v3.3"
4.) Download the latest SpywareBlaster installer from the link above and
run it.
5.) Enjoy the new version of SpywareBlaster!

i was unable to remove....but i just installed over and it is working fine

SpywareBlaster does NOT run in the background.
You download it, install it, run it, update it, enable the
protection, and EXIT/CLOSE the program. The only time it needs to be
run is when updating or making changes.

And unlike other programs, SpywareBlaster does not have to remain
running in the background.

Exactly. Run it once and forget it until the next update. Spyware
Blaster inoculates your computer. It does not need to be running in
the background all the time. It uses registry keys to perform its
miracles.
