Spybot ruined my computer!!

I was told by a friend to go to downloads.com and
download "Spybot - Search and Destroy" program. After it
finished its work , it said it has cleaned out all the spy
viruses. However it delete some operating files I guess
and now I am not able to use my PC. All i can do is
search the web for a little bit and also check e-mail,
nothing else without getting an error message.

Whenever I try to open any program say, I get the
message "This file does not have a program associated with
it for
performing this action. Create an association in the
Folder Options Control Panel".

I've tried restoring my computer to a different date and
it won't work. Can anyone help me with this?

EXE File Association Fix (Restore default association for EXE files)

Once you get the exe files to work, go back into Spybot and then select Recovery
and check what you have deleted.

Thanks, that worked and my computer is operating
normally, don't ever download Spybot...it wrecks your
computer

Spy Sweeper is safe. I've been using it for a few weeks on my XP Pro OS.

Hi Dave, glad everything is working. Spybot is an excellent product but not for
the novice user. You would be better off using Ad-Aware
