spybot question

I have spybot 1.2 installed on my computer and I want to
get the new 1.3 version....can I just install 1.3 or do I
have to un install 1.2 first?

When I went from 1.2 to 1.3 I uninstalled the previous
version. It worked fine for me doing it that way.

Bruce is mistaken but that's ok. I simply downloaded the 1.3 RC5 and double clicked the install and it overwrote the 1.2 version of Spybot that I had. Howerver that being said I do suggest for peace of mind and for ease of installation it would be best to uninstall an application before updating it unless you are using the update function from within the program and it simply asks if you would like to ovewrite the existing files then do so. For this question there simply isn't a right or wrong answer. It depends on your level of skill and just how well configured your system is. Good luck. }:~)

Well, don't do what I did, which was to install 1.3 in a separate folder
alongside 1.2 so that I could compare & try 1.3 before losing 1.2. When I
decided 1.3 was OK (which it is), I went back to 1.2 to recover the things I
had saved in the recovery feature, it crashed halfway through, and I lost
them all.

In hindsight, I would:

1) Recover anything you've got saved in the 1.2 recovery feature.
2) Uninstall 1.2
3) Install 1.3
