Open with default

I installed a program (Audacity 1.2) and then installed Audacity 1.3
Beta. I wanted to change my association of its files to Audacity 1.3
(which is in a separate directory). I kept "open with" and browsed
to 1.3 over and over again without lasting success (with "always use
this program" checked). The association was back to 1.2.

So I renamed the Audacity 1.2 directory, hoping that would help.

Now it wants to open with Adobe as the default, and I still can't get
it to keep opening Audacity 1.3.

What is happening?

No idea about this application (extension) but assoc and ftype commands may
be of use here.

Want to hide Adobe from Open With listing, or want to remove it completely?

I want to hide it from that particular extension's mistaken Open With
listing.
