Spurious startup activity

After a recent update, I now find that the Norton Systwmworks folder opens on
a 'Shutdown/Reboot'!

There is no reference to this folder in any of the Start Menu->Startup
folders and, for lack of experience, I can't see anything in SYSTEM.INI,
WIN.INI, BOOT.INI or STARTUP (when I run msconfig) that would give me a hint.

Look for either sysdoc32.exe or acctmgr.exe

In the meantime: Click Start, Run and enter MSINFO32.EXE Go to Software
Environment, Startup Programs. The Command column will show you the exact
command line used. If you see one that uses a long file name/path with
spaces in it, and its not enclosed in quotes, you've found the culprit.

Added info: Disable Unnecessary Programs at Startup

Start/Run/Regedit. Right Click/Delete unnecessary programs listed here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

AutoRuns - Shows what programs are configured to run during system boot up
or login. Includes items in startup folders, win.ini, and 14 registry keys.

Hi Kelly,
D-U-H me!
I noticed the folder was empty (I'd upgraded to Norton's SystemWorks and
that process must have removed all files in that folder) , deleted it, ran a
Registry Optimiser program and, viola, it no longer displayed at start up.

However, I do like MSINFO32.EXE better that MSCONFIG.EXE - thank you for
that tool.

Thanks again and when I can beat the system, I'll give a positive post.
